William Rochfort

William Rochfort was born in 1985 and has worked predominantly in oils since completing a Fine Art degree at Kingston University. The focus of William's work is snapshots of people in time, from everyday scenes to intimate moments to larger than life multi-person portraits infused with energy and intrigue.

"Film is my biggest inspiration. I can't remember the first time that I went to the cinema, I remember the first film I saw which was Superman. That was my first introduction to the character, introduction to comic books and to the escapism which is something that I want to try and get in my paintings."

In his paintings Will deals mainly with imagery from America in the 40's, 50's and 60's. This is immediately evident in the clothes, hairstyles, objects and backdrops that combine to provide a unique glimpse in to the past.

"Every painting is different and I take inspiration from a number of sources. Film is a huge influence but I also reference many 20th Century artists, comic books, music, several illustrators, the contemporary arts and graphic design. I love a good story and themes of relationships, loneliness and humanity inspire me to paint"

William has paintings in several private collections in the UK, Europe, USA and Africa along with a piece on public display in the Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore, India. He exhibited successfully with the High Performance Art Gallery for over 8 years.
