Penny Crofts studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, graduating with a BA (Hons) Fine Art. Her solo exhibition Bodyscapes, Skyscapes and Portraits was shown at the Waterloo Gallery, and her group exhibitions include London Art in Cork Street, and International Open Image in Hoxton Square.
Penny's paintings are concerned with portraiture on an alternative level, using imagery of the body. She has depicted the female form in an untraditional way, using traditional methods of painting on canvas.
Penny’s work is continually evolving and this year, she took thermography to a new level by photographing elite athletes and transcribing these images onto canvas to reflect power, talent and determination. Her work is also influenced by her other careers as an airline stewardess and registered nurse. Vibrance of colour is at the core of all of her painting’s whether using thermographic imagery as a starting point or simply the natural elements of the world that she is lucky enough to experience as an airline stewardess.
"You realise that the world is such a beautiful place and of such continual artistic inspiration, in particular the stunning sky views at sunrise and sunset all captured at 35,000 feet."
