Jo Vane

An emerging sculptor, Jo Vane's background as a jeweller has naturally developed into creating larger sculptural pieces of art, in response to seascape and forest where she lives. Influenced by artists such as Barbara Hepworth, Richard Long and Andy Goldsworthy, her work explores and responds to themes of water, shadow and light; exploring reflection, erosion, growth and natural cycles.

Marine forms such as cresting waves, rockpools and surreal underwater lost and re-discovered objects are hand worked in copper and bronze, finished with jewel-like patinas. Pierced apertures featured in Jo's sculptures echo natural erosion and allow light to flow, creating beautiful shadow patterns to fall, and providing ever changing viewpoints through and around the three-dimensional pieces.
